BBMP Launches Social Media Account for Koramangala-Ejipura Flyover as Construction Hits 60% Completion

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched an official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Koramangala-Ejipura flyover project, providing regular updates on construction progress for a structure that has been under development for over eight years. The handle, named 'BBMP Koramangala Ejipura Flyover Project,' marks an unusual step of giving a civic infrastructure project its own dedicated social media presence.

The flyover is designed to be Bengaluru's second-longest, spanning approximately 2.38 to 2.5 kilometres along the 100 Feet Road corridor. It will connect Ejipura Main Road at the Inner Ring Road junction to Kendriya Sadan Junction, passing through seven busy intersections that will become signal-free upon completion, easing congestion across the Koramangala, Ejipura, and Sarjapur Road areas.

The project was originally launched in 2017 with Simplex Infrastructures as the contractor, but progress was slow — reaching only 42% completion in five years. The urban development department terminated that contract and appointed Hyderabad-based firm BSCPCL in November 2023. As of July 2025, construction stands at approximately 60% completion, with 70 of 84 pillars finished and 437 of 762 precast segments installed. Ramp work is underway on the Madiwala-Ejipura and Sarjapur sides, pedestrian walkways are near completion, and asphalt laying beneath the flyover is in progress. Primary construction activities are conducted between 11 pm and 5 am to minimise traffic disruption.

The project's initial cost estimate ranged from Rs. 128 crore to Rs. 204 crore. BBMP's revised deadline for full completion is March 2026, with segment installation expected to conclude by end of 2025 and final ramp and site works to follow shortly after.
