Kunal Kamra cancels Whitefield shows, shifts performances to Underground Comedy Club in Koramangala

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has cancelled his scheduled performances at URU Whitefield in Bengaluru and relocated them to the Underground Comedy Club in Koramangala, following sustained opposition from Hindutva activists, police confirmed on Monday.

Kamra announced the venue change on X, stating that shows scheduled from Monday through Thursday had been shifted to the Koramangala venue. He directed ticket holders for the Whitefield shows to seek refunds through BookMyShow and purchase fresh tickets for the new venue.

On Sunday, Kamra personally visited Whitefield police station to inform authorities that he would not proceed with the originally planned shows. A senior police officer confirmed the visit, saying Kamra cited opposition from Hindutva activists as the reason for the cancellation.

The cancellation followed a petition submitted by the Hindu Rashtra Samanvaya Samiti to Bengaluru Police seeking the cancellation of Kamra's August 3 performance at URU Whitefield. The group alleged that Kamra had disrespected Hindu deities and raised concerns over potential law-and-order disruptions and threats to religious harmony.

The relocation of the shows to Koramangala's Underground Comedy Club means the performances will now proceed at the new venue, subject to no further opposition or administrative intervention.
