Minister Reddy Optimistic About Resolution of Resignation Issue

Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy has expressed optimism about resolving the issue surrounding his resignation through ongoing discussions within the party. Speaking to reporters at his residence in Koramangala, Bengaluru, Reddy stated that senior leaders have intervened to address the matter amicably. He mentioned that AICC General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala had discussed the issue with him, and he had also met with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to talk over all concerns. Reddy noted that Congress State President B.K. Hariprasad had also reached out, emphasizing the need for unity.

Reddy indicated that CM Shivakumar and Surjewala are expected to meet again to finalize the decision, and he is waiting for their call. He clarified that there has been no change in his stance and that he is hopeful the discussions will soon bring clarity. Reddy also addressed the matter of portfolio allocation, stating that he did not specifically seek the Bengaluru Development portfolio and has limited familiarity with his current role in the irrigation department. He emphasized that his entry into the Cabinet was based on party decisions rather than personal lobbying.

Reddy, who first became a minister in 1993, reiterated that he never lobbied for any position with any Chief Minister. He expressed confidence that the ongoing discussions would resolve the confusion by the evening. The resignation issue arose after Reddy announced his resignation from the state Cabinet, alleging that CM Shivakumar had not fulfilled an assurance regarding the allocation of the Bengaluru Urban portfolio.
