Rahul Gandhi and Kharge in Bengaluru for AICC Chief's Nomination Amid Congress Crisis

Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge visited Bengaluru to partake in Kharge's nomination for the Rajya Sabha election from Karnataka. Their arrival was marked by a warm welcome from Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and other senior Congress leaders. The visit occurs amid internal turmoil within the Karnataka Congress, as Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced his intention to resign from the cabinet due to dissatisfaction with his portfolio allocation. Reddy, who was promised the Bengaluru Urban portfolio after 2.5 years, was instead given the Water Resources portfolio. He expressed his grievances from his office in Koramangala, stating that Chief Minister Shivakumar and his brother had assured him of the promised portfolio. In another development, Minister K. H. Muniyappa, a senior Congress leader, expressed his discontent with being assigned the Food and Civil Supplies Department. Muniyappa, a veteran leader from the Dalit community, has refused to take charge of the ministry and urged the party leadership to address the issue. These events highlight the challenges faced by the new Congress government in Karnataka as it deals with internal disagreements over ministerial allocations.
