CREDAI Discusses Real Estate Issues with Tamil Nadu CM Vijay

The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI) held a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to address several pressing issues in the real estate sector. The delegation, led by CREDAI Chennai President Mehul H. Doshi, highlighted the need for eliminating corruption and expediting project approvals through a single-window system to facilitate faster development. A significant point of discussion was the Ramsar influence zone notification, which has impacted approximately 8,000 acres of patta land and over 1.5 lakh patta holders. This notification has led to planning paralysis and financial uncertainty for landowners, particularly in areas like Velachery, Perungudi, and parts of the OMR and Metro Rail corridors. CREDAI urged the government to reconsider the Ramsar designation or form a high-level committee to resolve the issue within 30 days. Additionally, CREDAI requested that all projects over 1 lakh sq. ft. be included in the Guidance Tamil Nadu’s single-window platform to streamline approvals. They also advocated for expanding the self-certification and automatic building approval system to cover larger built-up areas, enhancing the ease of doing business in the state.
