Bengaluru Police Seize 75 Vehicles During RCB Victory Celebrations

After the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the IPL 2026 title, fans across Bengaluru celebrated with fervor, leading to significant traffic disruptions. The celebrations, particularly intense around M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, M.G. Road, Brigade Road, Indiranagar, Koramangala, Jayanagar, and Rajajinagar, prompted the Bengaluru traffic police to seize 75 vehicles for various traffic violations. These included triple riding, dangerous wheeling, negligent driving, and speeding, which posed risks to public safety.

To prevent any untoward incidents, senior police officers and personnel were deployed at major junctions and patrol routes. Checkpoints were established to monitor vehicle movement and ensure public peace. The police operation was part of a broader strategy to curb dangerous driving during major sports events and festivals, which have seen an increase in such activities in recent years.

The operation, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North Division under the guidance of the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, involved multiple police teams and the use of CCTV cameras and mobile patrolling vehicles. The seized vehicles included 71 two-wheelers, three auto-rickshaws, and one car. Many young people were found performing stunts and riding without helmets.

Police have warned the public to celebrate responsibly and avoid dangerous stunts on roads. They have also indicated that further action will be taken against violators identified through CCTV footage and social media videos. Penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, including fines, license suspension, and criminal charges for serious offenses, are being considered.
