Mylapore MLA Venkataramanan Appointed Minister in Vijay-Led Tamil Nadu Government

P Venkataramanan, a member of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party and newly elected MLA from Mylapore, has been appointed as a minister in the Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Vijay. Venkataramanan, who is an advocate by profession, expressed his satisfaction and commitment to working for the welfare of Tamil Nadu under Vijay's leadership. He defeated the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) candidate Velu Dha by a margin of 28,972 votes in the recent Assembly elections.

The TVK party, led by Vijay, has formed a coalition government after securing 118 seats in the 234-member assembly, ending nearly six decades of dominance by the Dravidian parties. The coalition received backing from Congress, which won five seats, as well as support from the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, and the Indian Union Muslim League. The new government is required to prove its majority in the Assembly by May 13.

The cabinet includes a mix of experienced leaders and new faces, with nine TVK members, including Venkataramanan, taking the oath as ministers. Other notable ministers include TVK general secretary N Anand, KG Arunraj, Aadhav Arjuna, KA Sengottaiyan, and R Nirmalkumar. Chief Minister Vijay, speaking at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, emphasized a new beginning and an era of real, secular, and social justice, highlighting his humble origins and connection with the common people.
